The Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League announced their 2009-2010 Clear Day roster today, which consists of 20 skaters and two goaltenders.
According to AHL by-laws, only the players listed on a team’s Clear Day roster are eligible to compete in the remainder of the AHL regular season and in the 2010 Calder Cup Playoffs, unless emergency conditions arise as a result of injury, recall or suspension. Teams may also add signed junior players or players on amateur tryout contracts after Clear Day, but only once their respective junior or college seasons are complete.
The Bulldogs’ Clear Day roster consists of 12 forwards, eight defencemen and two goaltenders.
Forwards: David Desharnais, Mike Glumac, Ben Maxwell, Eric Neilson, Max Pacioretty, Aaron Palushaj, Tom Pyatt, Ryan Russell, Grant Stevenson, Brock Trotter, Ryan White and J.T. Wyman
Defencemen: Shawn Belle, Andre Benoit, Mathieu Carle, Alex Henry, Frederic St. Denis, P.K. Subban, Mike Vernace and Yannick Weber
Goaltenders: Cedrick Desjardins and Curtis Sanford
Players in Residence but not on the Clear Day list: Chad Anderson, Andrew Conboy, Olivier Fortier, Maxime Lacroix and Dany Masse
A player in residence can only be used during the remainder of the regular season or the playoffs if a combination of three members of the 22-man roster are injured, recalled or suspended.
First off, I seemed to have missed the fact that Vernace is a defenceman last night…. This is good because the Hammies seemed to be short a d-man or two a lot throughout the season…
Second… if the Hammies can only call up a guy if three players are missing… does this mean that we can keep Lacroix for now? Carle is out (they keep saying he’s probably done for the season), Pyatt and Maxwell are still slugging it out with the Habs so……? Anyone out there have a better idea of exactly how this works than me?
Third…. um…. I forgot :|
